Gateway to Guidance
The main aim is to work out a model of a comprehensive regional system for vocational lifelong guidance in a society of lifelong learning, based on a close co-operation between public employment services, public administration, the Confederation of Business and Industry, trade unions and other public and private actors.
The European employment strategy and guidelines highlight the role that guidance can play in routing clients through training and into jobs. The project has two target groups: employed and unregistered unemployed adults, who want and need career guidance.
It is of great importance to enable the adults to identify their capacities, competencies and interests, to make educational, training and occupational decisions and to manage their individual life paths in learning, work and other settings. To do this, the project will develop different strategies to approach the group, and increase the accessibility of career guidance in the respective regions.
The project is co-ordinated by The Competence Forum of Telemark, Norway, and partners in Denmark, Ireland, the Slovak Republic and the United Kingdom.
The Gateway to Guidance project will run from October 2005 to December 2007.
