New Eurozone Members

In July 2007, EU leaders backed the European Commission and voted to allow Cyprus and Malta to join the Eurozone on 1 January 2008. The Cypriot Pound and Maltese Lira will be replaced by the Euro.

"I am happy that Cyprus and Malta will adopt the Euro bringing to 15 countries and nearly 320 million the number of people who share the currency that has the vocation to be, one day, the sole currency of the European Union", said Joaquín Almunia, European Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs.

This is as a result of a successful bid under the European Commission funded LEONARDO programme. We will be providing further information on our website by the end of October.

GIRC

We have a limited number of free handbooks which outline a model for creating local/regional centres of expertise to support the work of the Euroguidance network. This ‘GIRC’ (Guidance Innovation Relay Centres) project aimed to bring people working at the forefront of guidance closer to those at policy level with an emphasis on the European dimension. If you would like a copy of the handbook please email us.
